As I begin shopping around this holiday season I cant help but be reminded of the sheer commercialism of this holiday season. We seem to be inundated with malls and chain stores who shove gobs and gobs of products as us hoping to part us with our hard earned dollars. Many of these products arent worth the money you pay for them either. Many will break down all to quickly for the price we paid for them. Not to mention that many of us all shop and look alike as well, since we all shop at the same stores. I strive to be myself and shopping handmade allows me to do that.

The good news is that today there are more artist selling beautiful well crafted handmade things than ever before. A short jaunt around the internet will give you plenty of artists to buy from. You can look around Etsy or Indie Public or Indie Designer Labels , just to mention a few.

Never before have we had such easy access to so many talented people with so many great things to offer. I know I always like getting handmade things. I have had people tell me, in the past, they saw this great handmade thing they almost bought me but didnt get it cause they thought I made so many things I could make it if I wanted. I always tell them, I love handmade things and I love getting them as gifts. There is no better gift to get than something handmade and artsy.
