Exerimentation with caron d’ache

October 7th, 2007 · No Comments

I bought the caron d’ache watercolor crayons recently and thought I would sit down and give them a try. They were fun to play with and made a soft watercolor look on my house design. Just a soft blend of colors, they are kind of muted but that was the effect I was going for.

I just wanted to play with something simple so I used a house as my inspiration and colored them all in with the crayons . sprayed with water and blended them and then quilted on top of the painted housed. It kind of reminds me of life in the city with houses on top of one another.

I am not sure what I will do with this piece, its kind of just sitting around the studio looking at me day after day but hasnt decided what it wants to be just yet. Some days it’s just fun to experiment! We dont always need a reason or a purpose to do something, just playing can inspire us in new ways.
