felt bag

Our Sewing for beginnners/Kids Korner tote pattern is now available. This is a fantastic little bag that I call my essentials bag. I call it that because it just fits my essentials. I carry it with me everywhere, the grey one is mine. The red one is my daughters version, which I love too, but she is so proud of hers she won’t let me carry it!

shopifyfeltbag.jpg(get this pattern free) Felt Flower Handbag, we hope you like the attention to details and the great close up photos we provide to show you just what to do. If you like our free pattern then check back often for other patterns that will be available for purchase in our Sew Simple Series at our online shop.

Felt Flower bagThe red felt bag is a great tote for beginning sewers. It was also constructed and tested by kids so we know its good for ages 10 and up. Some simple machine sewing is required to sew the lining and construct the bag after the design has been blanket stitched on. The pattern also provides a how to for the handles on the grey bag as well, if you prefer to make your own rather than use webbing as we did for the red bag. This bag was designed with a different color design on each side to show variation.

Instructions are suited for even the newest of beginners. The Pdf Pattern is packed with images that “Show” you rather than tell you what you need to do every step of the way. It covers

  • how to do blanket stitching
  • french knots
  • making and sewing the flower design
  • sewing the lining
  • constructing the bag.
  • how to make the striped handles

This is part of Studio-259’s Sew Simple Series of patterns designed for the absolute beginner.

We love to create fun quality projects that teach skills you can build on so you can make a bag that you would be proud to carry.Through this blog post the Felt Flower handbag pattern is available for free.

just came across from pink chalk studio - LOVE IT! I relate entirely to your crafty background and lack of quality kids craft projects. Congrats on a wonderful site, I look forward to visiting often from here in Melbourne Australia.

Thanks Andy and welcome from Australia. I have lots of projects for kids on the design board and will be working on them in the weeks to come. My next project is a princess tote, and yes I have a princess in the house, she will be consulting on my design as I make the project into a pattern.
I hope to inspire young people to love sewing as much as I do.

wow! this project is so cute and so simple! and how lovely and gracious of you to share it. i would love a copy of the pattern - sounds like a very fun afternoon with my niece. :)

also, i really love that you have a “making a difference” section, and i adore who you’ve chosen to feature. it’s a little astonishing what $25 US can do in many parts of the world - and that’s a doable donation for so many people who don’t think of themselves as philanthropists. *cheer!*

    thanks Carrie,
I do hope you enjoy the pattern, and send us a pic when your niece is done, we would love to add it to our kids korner gallery. (click on the kids korner link above for more info on this)

And yes $25 dollars, which is a small amount in my life, can make a huge difference in others. Its so nice to take something so small and have it add up so much.
I hope you will come back and check us out often I will be adding new kids projects soon.
