How to make a knot in your thread

July 26th, 2007 · No Comments

I often hear from kids and beginners how do I make a knot at the end of my thread. This is a very simple thing to learn and it makes working on your own projects easier when you can thread your needle and knot it yourself.

Step 1:

First take your thread and wrap it around your finger to make an X, as pictured in the first photo.

Step 2:

Place your thumb on the X and roll the threads together by rolling up your finger to the tip

step 3

Your thread should look something like this.

step 4

Now you want to grab the roll at the tip with your fingers and gently pull it down toward the end of the thread. This should make a knot at the end of the thread.

And now you should have a knot something like this. This might take doing it a few times to get the hang of it, but its very easy and it will make it easier for you to sew when you can make your own knots.
