I live in this old farmhouse and since we just rent we have to deal with the good and the bad. One of the bad things is we get a lot of drafts in this old house and I know they come from many places and the windows on this old house are a major draft maker.
With the rising cost of heating fuel we needed to do something so we decided to try that thin plastic you heat shrink on the windows using double sided tape. I was a bit leary since the plastic was not very thick and I have heard that the tape can be difficult to use and get off. But I also cant afford to waste heat either. We also needed something affordable.
So this past weekend we put them up and I have to say it was a job , but one well worth it. It has definitely changed the temperature of this house and it stays much warmer. That little thin plastic did the trick. I guess I will have to worry about getting the tape off next spring, for now it is keeping the drafts out and the heat in.
